Project Callout – participate in this exhibition 

Previous Owner  is the third instalment of an annual postcard exchange and exhibition curated by Rhi Johnson and Peta Berghofer. Leveraging print exchange traditions and deploying these in a broader context, this project involves both an exhibition and an artwork exchange component. Participants are asked to submit a postcard-sized work, or multiple works, and in return will receive a randomly chosen work or works from another participating artist or artists.  This project engages with notions of community dialogue, creative connectivity, and inclusive arts practice. It is open to artists of all ages and all levels of experience and serves as a platform for storytelling and building community connections. 

ARTWORK GUIDELINES 

Participants are asked to submit between 1 – 5 postcard-sized works. These will be exhibited, then exchanged with other artists in the show. 

Important:  

By entering work into this show, you acknowledge that your work will not be returned to you. Instead, you will receive between 1 – 5 randomly chosen works from other participating artists. 

ARTWORK SIZE: A6 (10.5 x 14.8cm) 

There are no depth restrictions, however we ask that if you are creating a three-dimensional work (e.g., ceramic, or sculptural) that it is ready to hang.  

MEDIUM: Open 

Past submissions have included drawings, paintings, prints, collage, photography, digital art, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, and mixed media works. 

NUMBER OF WORKS: 1 – 5 

Artists can submit up to 5 postcards for exhibition and exchange.  

EXHIBITION LOCATION 

A Block Gallery, University of Southern Queensland, 487-535 West Street, Toowoomba, Queensland. 

FEES 

There is no exhibition fee for your involvement in this exhibition.  

There will be no sales facilitated, as all artworks will be exchanged with other participating artists. 

The inclusion of one command strip per postcard is appreciated, as this helps offset the costs of installation.

DELIVERY/COLLECTION OF WORK 

Delivery (on or before 12th March 2025) 

In Person: to the collection point situated outside Rhi Johnson’s office (A240), A Block, University of Southern Queensland, West Street, Toowoomba. Qld. 

OR 

By Mail: to Rhi Johnson, A240, School of Creative Arts, UniSQ, West Street, Toowoomba. Qld. 4350. 

(The artwork must arrive by COB 12th March 2024. Cost of shipping to be paid by the artist). 

Collection  

All works to be collected within 14 days of Monday 29th April 2025 from the UniSQ A-Block Foyer. Specific collection times will be announced.  

If return shipping is required, this will be completed by the curators within 14 days. Cost of return shipping to be paid by the artist.

Installation date: Monday 17th March 2025 – Tuesday 29th April 2025
